Step 1: Check Your Eligibility

Before applying, ensure you meet all the eligibility criteria for the PGWP. This includes:

  • Graduating from a Designated Learning Institution (DLI)

  • Full-time student status during your studies

  • Completion of a program that is at least 8 months long

  • Meeting the language proficiency requirements

  • Ensuring your program aligns with the new field of study requirements (effective November 2024)

  • We’ll help you assess your eligibility to make sure you’re ready for the next step.

Step 2: Prepare Your Documents

To apply for your PGWP, you’ll need to gather the following documents:

  • Proof of graduation: Your final transcript or completion letter from your school.

  • Valid passport: Ensure your passport is valid for the duration of your intended stay in Canada.

  • Proof of language proficiency: If required, your test results showing your CLB score.

  • Photos: Passport-sized photos for your application.

  • Proof of funds: If applicable, documents showing you have enough funds to support yourself during your stay.

Our team at Canada Student VISA will help you organize these documents and ensure everything is in order for submission.

Step 3: Complete the Online Application

You will need to complete your PGWP application online through the official website of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). During the process, you’ll be required to:

  • Fill out the necessary forms with accurate information

  • Upload all required documents

  • Pay the application fee (currently CAD 255)

If you’re unsure about any part of the form, don’t worry! We’ll walk you through it and answer any questions you have to make sure everything is filled out correctly.

Step 4: Submit Your Application

Once your application is complete, submit it online. Remember that you must apply within 180 days of receiving your final transcript or completion letter.

We recommend that you apply as soon as possible to avoid any delays and ensure that your PGWP is processed quickly. Canada Student VISA can assist with the final review before submission, ensuring everything is perfect.

Step 5: Wait for Your Application to Be Processed

The processing time for the PGWP typically ranges from 4 to 6 months. During this time, you may be asked to provide additional information or attend an interview. Be prepared to respond quickly if needed.

We’ll help you stay updated on the status of your application and ensure you’re always in the loop.

Step 6: Receive Your PGWP and Start Working!

Once your application is approved, you’ll receive your Post-Graduation Work Permit. You can then begin working in Canada and gaining the experience necessary for permanent residency options like the Canadian Experience Class.
